When are the meets?
-Please visit our "Meet Schedule" page under the 2021 Season tab. It has all of our meets, their location, and time of meets
-To compete in the Conference championship meet, swimmers must compete in at least TWO dual meets. (Note: Conference is cancelled for the 2021 season)
Are practices mandatory?
-There is not a mandatory number of practices that swimmers must attend. However, the more practices the swimmers attend, the more they will learn
Is prior swim team experience necessary?
-Not at all! We welcome all swimmers regardless of ability. All that is required is that they be able to swim 25 yards unassisted of one stroke.
Are there swimming opportunities after Barracudas' season?
-Yes! There is a year-round competitive team in St. Joseph. The team name is Kansas City Swim Academy. Visit teamswimacademy.com or email Head Coach Tori Zieger at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information!
How will I receive team communication throughout the season?
-Please provide your email address upon registration. Any team communication will be sent first over email, then posted on social media
What do I need for practices?
-Racing goggles and a competitive suit are needed. A swim cap is recommended, especially for longer hair. Practice suits can be found at sporting goods stores or online. Team Suits can be seen here
What should I bring to meets?
-Team suit, team cap, and goggles are required. Most of our meets are outdoors, so consider bringing a jacket or sweat pants for between events. Two towels are recommended to stay dry. Seating is not usually provided, so a sleeping bag or blanket to spread out is always a good idea, and a folding chair(s). Activities and snacks are recommended as well.
What are my responsibilities as a parent?
-We require parents, or a representative for each swim family, to volunteer at least twice for our team. Most commonly, that is in the form of timing at two of our meets (or for the duration of one meet), however we do have positions for awards, computer operation, and we will need a couple other positions filled at our hosted meet.
-If you do not want to volunteer, you can pay a 125$ fee to be exempted from volunteer responsibilities. --> This is waived for the 2021 season
-Volunteer assignments will be available for selection online at the website under the REGISTRATION tab
